MOVING WITH THE WORLD
See with the whole body. Discover new possibilities in familiar places.
I teach people to turn their environment into a practice.
ABOUT THE PRACTICE
There’s a primal wisdom in moving through nature that connects us to the way our bodies evolved.
That’s where I want to take us back — to encounters we can’t fully plan, where the body senses, adapts and responds as we move.
A flexible branch, an uneven rock or shifting ground gives movement direction, sometimes revealing possibilities we hadn’t imagined.
My work moves between nature and the city, a branch and a railing, a rock and a wall, exploring how these encounters can enrich one another.
Through tasks, games and movement skills, we develop strength, sensitivity and confidence, learning to let our surroundings take part in shaping our movement.
The Movement Foundations course grew from this connection: developing skills and independence, building confidence as conditions change, and continuing to move, explore and grow.
CITY / POSSIBILITY
A Familiar Place, Another Possibility
We pass the same steps, walls and railings almost every day. We know the route and their uses, and begin to discover what else they offer: a step can invite balance, a railing can offer a grip, and the distance between two walls can pose a question the body wants to explore.
Seeing the city differently opens up new ways to move through it. A familiar place becomes a space for practice and play, and through that experience we deepen our understanding of the body and the environment.
I teach how to turn this curiosity into practice: recognising an opportunity, finding an approach and developing it within our abilities. Movement Foundations offers tools to begin creating these encounters ourselves, on our daily routes.
